| We study the boundary behavior of a kinetic Fokker-Planck equation in the half-space with absorbing boundary condition. This equation can be seen as a base model for the study of more general kinetic equations (such as the Landau or Boltzmann equations). Our main result consists of precise regularity estimates for the solution at the absorbing boundary and at the grazing set. The bound we obtain is expressed in terms of the steady state of the equation and a time decay. The technique is based on a new kinetic Nash-type inequality in the half-space. This talk is based on joint work with Christopher Henderson (University of Maryland) and Weinan Wang (University of Oklahoma). |
