»C⁰-contact geometry of surfaces in 3-manifolds«

Abstract:
In this talk, I will discuss how surfaces in contact 3-manifolds behave under C⁰-limits of contactomorphisms. I will prove that contact homeomorphisms preserve characteristic foliations: singular points are mapped to singular points, and 1-dimensional leaves are set-wise sent to 1-dimensional leaves on the image surface. As a consequence, regular coisotropic surfaces exhibit C⁰-rigidity. On the other hand, the contact convexity is C⁰-flexible: I will present a construction of a contact homeomorphism that maps a convex 2-torus into a non-convex one. This work is joint with Baptiste Serraille.
