»Choreographic Periodic Solutions of the Three-Body Problem«

Abstract:
A remarkable solution of the three-body problem is the figure eight solution, for which three bodies periodically traverse the same path. Such solutions are very special and known as periodic choreographies. In this talk, the basic formalism behind their mathematical description will be discussed as well as the ideas formulated by Alain Chenciner and Richard Montgomery to formally obtain the figure eight solution, which paved the way to find more periodic choreographies until today.
