Cieliebak and Mohnke define the symplectic energy of a Lagrangian submanifold of a symplectic manifold as the minimal positive symplectic area of a disk in the symplectic manifold with boundary on the Lagrangian. I will explain that every Lagrangian torus that maximizes the symplectic energy among the Lagrangian tori in the standard symplectic unit ball must lie entirely on the boundary of the ball. This answers a question of Lazzarini and settles a conjecture of Cieliebak and Mohnke in the affirmative.
If time allows, I will explain that the conjecture is true for any compact four-dimensional convex toric domain in the standard symplectic Euclidean space. I will also present a partial answer to a question of Schlenk. The contents of this talk are taken from my ongoing PhD thesis under the supervision of Klaus Mohnke and Kai Cieliebak. |
