»Variants of Roe Algebras for Spaces with Cylindrical Ends and Relative Higher Index Theory«

Abstract:
After recalling the coarse geometric approach to higher index theory and its applications to the existence and classification of positive scalar curvature metrics on closed manifolds, I will introduce variants of Roe algebras for spaces with cylindrical ends and discuss how they can be used in relative higher index theory. In particular, I will define secondary invariants for positive scalar curvature (psc) metrics on manifolds with boundary, which, apart form providing a simple proof of the vanishing of the relative higher index of manifolds with boundary admitting a psc metric, can be used for classification of such metrics.
