»Recurrent motions in the Euclidean space«

Abstract:
Given a measure preserving transformation $T: \mathbb{R}^d \to \mathbb{R}^d $, we are interested in the dynamics of the discrete system $x_{n+1} =T(x_n )$. We prove that almost all orbits are recurrent when $T$ does not grow too much at infinity. As a corollary we obtain a curious fixed point theorem for area-preserving mappings of the plane. This is joint work with Markus Kunze.
