| It is unknown how to classify open 3-manifolds with positive scalar curvature up to diffeomorphism. Using minimal surfaces theory, we give a partial answer. In this talk, we present the proof that any orientable complete 3-manifold with uniformly positive scalar curvature is an infinite connected sum of quotients of the 3-sphere. Further, we talk about minimal surfaces in a 3-manifold and its relationship with Geometrisation Conjecture. |
