Abstract: |
L-functions form a class of functions depending on a complex variable s, which are of fundamental interest for number theorists in the widest sense. The most prominent example is still the Riemann zeta function, but during the last two centuries many more of these L-functions have been constructed. I will give an idea of how such an L-function is obtained as a product over all primes of local Euler factors, how such local Euler factors look like. I will discuss some highly non trivial examples and then I will say something about the arithmetic information that can be extracted from an understanding of these functions. |
Hierzu ergeht herzliche Einladung. |
