»On the interplay between holomorphic curves and asymptotic cycles«

Abstract:
We would like to explain how the theory of asymptotic cycles,developed by Schwartzman, Fried and Sullivan, can be combined with Hofer's theory of holomorphic curves in symplectizations to produce new existence results of global surfaces of section for 3D Reeb flows. In particular, we obtain high genus sections in many cases. This is joint work with Salomao.
