Random closed sets are fundamental objects in stochastic geometry. They have been used to model different real phenomena. We consider two stationary random closed sets in the d-dimensional Euclidean space. Their realizations are completely observed in a bounded window. Our aim is to test the null hypothesis of mutual independence between these random sets. This is a natural step during the analysis of data. If there are no interactions present between two random closed sets, both sets could be modelled separately. We propose two nonparametric approaches to the test procedure, the first one is based on Monte Carlo testing and the second one relies on asymptotic results.
