Abstract:
In mathematics we often encode classes of objects into a single object in order to make general assertions about such objects. An example for that would be the moduli spaces in algebraic geometry, or the function spaces we examine in functional analysis. Operads are just such objects: they encode the information of a whole class of Algebras (for example associative or Lie Algebras). In this talk we will consider the two ways to think about these operads: As a tool to describe algebras and as mathematical objects in their own right. We will also see how and why these two notions can be used interchangeably. The talk is structured such that the only prerequisites are some elementary category theory and algebra.
Hierzu ergeht herzliche Einladung.
