Abstract: |
In this talk I present a unified error analysis for non-conforming space discretizations of linear wave equations in time-domain. It is based on an abstract framework which allows to derive a priori error bounds in terms of interpolation, data and conformity errors of the space discretization method. These error bounds significantly ease the proof of new convergence rates for previously unstudied constellations. I will demonstrate this for an isoparametric finite element discretization of the wave equation with dynamic boundary conditions. As such problems are inherently posed in smooth domains, which cannot be triangulated exactly, this finite element discretization is non-conforming. The final part of this talk is dedicated to the modular nature of our framework. It enables us to derive error bounds for full discretizations by a simple combination of space and time error estimates. |
