»Tropical geometry and the enumeration of curves«

Abstract:
In my talk, I will give a quick introduction to tropical geometry aimed at understanding some of its application towards enumerative geometry of curves. The focus will be on certain showcase examples like GW invariants of toric surfaces and Hurwitz numbers. If time permits, we will also discuss more recent developments regarding enumeration of real curves and polynomial invariants.
