»Some questions and results related to orbifolds«

Abstract:
We introduce orbifolds from a metric viewpoint and illustrate that they are, although by now classical, still a source for interesting questions. As a recent example we explain a result joint with R. Mendes and A. Lytchak saying that the diameter of an orbifold of constant curvature 1 is universally bounded from below by some constant c>0. Our other examples are related to variants of the question "When is an orbifold a manifold?" and to closed geodesics on orbifolds.
