»Γ-structures on compact symmetric spaces«

Abstract:
Recently Albers, Frauenfelder and Solomon [Comment. Math. Helv. 89, 929-936 (2014)] have shown that the 'canonical' product on Lagrangian Grassmannians of odd rank is a Γ-structure, i.e. certain mapping degrees associated to this product do not vanish. From a topological point of view, compact oriented manifolds with a Γ-structure behave like H-spaces. In this talk we extend the investigation of Albers, Frauenfelder and Solomon to other orientable compact symmetric spaces.
