»Finiteness of Hofer-Zehnder capacities and loop space homology «

Abstract:
In this talk I discuss two methods for getting finiteness of the Hofer-Zehnder capacity of unit disk bundles in cotangent bundles. Both of them use loop space homology. The first uses nonequivariant methods but twisted coefficients and leads to conditions on the second homotopy group of the underlying manifold. The second one uses equivariant methods and leads to questions about essentialness or more precisely inessentialness of the underlying manifold. This is joint work with P.Albers, A.Oancea and A.Pajitnov.
