The 6-sphere S6 ⊂ ℝ7 carries a non-integrable almost complex structure induced from the octonionic multiplication on O = ℝ ⋅ 1 ⊕ ℝ7. We will investigate (pseudo-)holomorphic complex curves with respect to this almost complex structure. These have many interesting properties; in particular, they are minimal surfaces. The subject was started by R. Bryant in 1983. We use a different method: the canonical connection on S6 = G2∕SU3. |
