»A new invariant of G_2 structures «

Abstract:
I will report on recent joint work with Johannes Nordström where we define an invariant of diffeomorphisms and homotopies of a G_2 structure on a closed 7 manifold. I will discuss examples, calculations for the invariant to date, its relationship to the mapping class groups of spin 7-manifolds and some potential future applications.
