»Are Galton-Watson processes in varying environment out-dated? «

Abstract:
Though Galton-Watson processes in a varying environment are the natural time-inhomogeneous generalisation of classical Galton-Watson processes, they are rarely considered or used nowadays. Possibly this is due to the fact that they may exhibit rather exotic behavior and by now have not be classified in the generic case. In the talk we arrive at such a classification along the lines of the fundamentals theorems for Galton-Watson processes and their analogues in the varying environment case.
