Abstract: |
Although modular forms have played a central role in number theory for a very long time, the use of representation theory of the modular group as a tool for studying the arithmetic of these functions is a much more recent development. In the first part of this talk, I will give a brief introduction to both scalar (i.e. classical) and vector-valued modular forms, and then I will give some indication of how representations of the modular group yield arithmetic information about the Fourier coefficients of vector-valued modular forms. In particular, I will describe the so-called bounded denominator conjecture for modular forms, and (time permitting) I will explain how Fuchsian differential equations have been used to verify this conjecture in the low dimension setting. |
Hierzu ergeht herzliche Einladung. |
