| Abstract: |
| We will first recall some basic properties such as the energy estimates and scaling invariant property, to introduce the notions of weak solutions and strong solutions. We will consider the weak solutions in the $L^2$ framework, where the existence result relies on the energy inequalities and compactness argument. While the strong solutions will be taken in the $L^p$ framework here and the theory of semi-groups of operators plays an important role. In particular in dimension two the two types of solutions coincide and the global-in-time wellposedness result holds true. We will finally mention the generalisation of the two-dimensional result to the inhomogeneous Navier-Stokes equations with (rough) variable density. This is joint work with Ping Zhang from AMSS, CAS, Beijing. |
