Abstract: |
Mirror symmetry is a phenomenon discovered by string theorists around 1990, and is a duality between certain kinds of complex manifolds known as Calabi-Yau manifolds. Conjecturally, these manifolds come in pairs X, Y in which certain kinds of (relatively easy) calculations on Y give the same answer as very different kinds of (very hard) calculations on X. This subject has blossomed into a very broad mathematical topic, and one of the key questions is how generally this duality exists. I will talk about joint work with Bernd Siebert suggesting that one can construct mirror pairs in very great generality. |
Hierzu ergeht herzliche Einladung. |
